Conventional Behind the Ear (BTE) Hearing Aids

Behind the Ear (BTE) hearing aids sit above the ear and deliver sound to the ear via a custom made ear mold. BTEs are not custom made to fit into the ear; therefore, the BTE style is best suited to hearing losses in the severe to profound range.

Advantages:

  • More power.
  • Longer battery life.
  • Not affected by the cerumen.

Disadvantages:

  • Difficult for some to put on.
